Challenge Cup Eligibility Requirements for Players
The Challenge Cup has grown significantly in recent seasons, and it’s no surprise! It has become a premier event that brings together the best of the best. As interest in this annual event continues to soar, we want to ensure that all players vying for a spot are well-prepared and meet the necessary criteria. Below are the eligibility requirements for players hoping to qualify:
To Qualify As A Player:
Utah USSSA invites male and female players to be considered for the Challenge Cup based on the following guidelines:
- Scorebook Requirement: Each manager/coach is required to keep a scorebook at the events. Scorebooks will be provided to each manager/coach at the first Qualifier event. Managers/Coaches must turn in the scorebook at the end of the event before leaving the park.
Men’s & Women’s Events Requirements:

Players must participate in at least 3 out of the 5 following Men’s or Women’s Qualifiers:
- March 21st-23rd – Qualifier #1
- April 25th-27th – Qualifier #2
- June 7th-8th – Qualifier #3
- July 11th-13th – Qualifier #4
- September 5th-7th – Qualifier #5
Note: Participation in at least 3 of these events is mandatory for eligibility.
USSSA State & Super Regionals (Mandatory for Eligibility):

Super Regionals:
- July 18th-20th – Super Regionals (Men’s & Women’s)

USSSA State:
- August 1st-3rd – Men’s E & D USSSA State
- August 15th-17th – Men’s B/C USSSA State
Mixed/Coed Events Requirements (Mandatory for Eligibility):
- Delta Nights: June 20th-22nd
- USSSA State: September 26th-28th
- Coed State: August 15th-17th
Seniors Events Requirements (Mandatory for Eligibility):
- May 4th-5th
- USSSA State: September 26th-28th
General Player Qualifications:
In addition to event participation, players must also demonstrate the following qualities:
- Good Sportsmanship: Always exhibit good sportsmanship both on and off the field.
- Positive Play: Play the game with enthusiasm, positivity, and respect for its true spirit, upholding the values of USSSA/GSL.
- Teamwork: Strive to bring out the best in teammates and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Respectful Communication: Maintain respectful and positive communication with USSSA staff and fellow players.
- Program Support: Be an advocate for and support your respective USSSA/GSL program.
- Good Standing: Maintain good standing with Utah USSSA, adhering to all league guidelines and standards.
- Ambassadorship: Be an ambassador for the game, representing your team and state with honor and pride.
- Position Excellence: Be regarded as one of the best at your respective position within your class.
- PRV Requirement: Must have a Player Rating Value (PRV) equal to or lower than the level you are representing.

The Challenge Cup is truly the “Olympics of Softball,” and we want only the most dedicated and passionate players to represent the Utah USSSA/GSL program and the state of Utah. We seek individuals who not only excel on the field but also embody the values and spirit of the game.
